"Scared"

We all get scared sometimes, but there are some different ways to show the slightly different types of fear we are experiencing.

1. Afraid 
When you feel fear or anxiety. It's quite a general term.
"Don't be afriad of your future."

2. Frightened 
Again when you are anxious, and it is used in the same way as afraid.
"Don't be frightened about your future."

3. Horrify
When something shocks you greatly.
"I was horrified when I read the news about the 9/11 terrorist attacks."

4. Startle
To feel sudden shock or alarm.
"I was fast asleep when the knock on the door startled me."

5. Fearful
When you feel or show anxiety.
"He looked fearful when he saw his exam results."

6. Petrified
So scared/terrified that you cannot move.
"The child was petrified of the dark."

7. Anxious
Feeling or showing worry or nervousness.
"She was so anxious about the exam results coming out."

8. Aghast
Filled with horror or shock
"He was aghast when he heard the news."

9. Alarmed
Make someone feel frightened or disturbed.
"I was alarmed when I saw someone walking towards me late at night."

10. Terrify
When you make someone feel extreme fear.
"He loves to terrify me, because I hate it.

11. Shaken
To shake from fear.
"I was shaking with fear when I saw a snake in the park."
