'WANNA' AND 'GONNA'
In spoken and written English there are many casual words and phrases. Two of the most used expressions are 'wanna' (want to) and 'gonna' (going to). English language movies and songs often feature these two words. Because of that, non-native speakers of English may think that to use these words will make them sound good. Another very casual word that often gets used is 'cool' (noteworthy, trendy, sophisticated, etc). Learning a language is not just about memorising a list of words and phrases. There is also a need to be aware of how and when to use certain expressions.
Obviously, words like 'wanna' and 'gonna' are easier to say than 'want to' and 'going to'. Songs often have these words in their lyrics, probably because it would be awkward to sing 'want to' and 'going to'. Imagine trying to sing the famous Beatles' song "I wanna hold your hand" using 'want to'. It would lose it's smoothness.
If you still want to use 'wanna' and 'gonna' then it's okay in situations such as when talking or writing to friends and family. However, it’s best to avoid speaking those words in formal situations, and they should not be used when writing English for such things as tests, essays, reports, business letters and reports.
